bio

Marina Losada (b 1975) is an Argentinian visual artist, currently living in Helsinki and Arles, France. She works on photography and video with a cross disciplinary approach. Her interests converge on natural landscape and experimental abstract photography. She conceives both working environments as spaces to traverse looking for nature’s expressions in small and large-scale landscapes. She integrates tools learned from internal martial arts, enriching her perception and understanding of natural spaces. These tools are interlaced with an approach to science coming from her engineering background, specially expressed in her experimental works.

In her last work Väre (2019), Losada investigates human perception, through photographic abstractions of music, made with sound, water and light. Intervening on those elements she transforms aural into visual information looking for possible landscapes of music.

She is currently working on commissions, collaborations and personal projects as well as on her MA in Photography at Aalto University, Helsinki and at Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie, Arles, France. From 2008, Losada has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions and performances in Argentina and Europe. She has published artists books and her work is part of private collections in South America, United States and Europe.
