30 thousand hearts

30 thousand white hearts cut by hand, thousands of people in different parts of Argentina. Objective: To cover the Plaza de Mayo with white hearts for the day of the 35th anniversary of the last coup.

The call for the hearts was launched on March 1, 2010 Just 23 days later there were more than 30,000 hearts cut out and ready to be hung on the Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires and Plaza San Martin in La Plata on the occasion of the commemoration of March 24th. The installation was carried out this day with great collaboration of people attending the events. The wonderful thing about this experience was the breadth and diversity of response and participation.
A simple and open proposal: cut white hearts to honor the 30 thousand disappeared in Argentina during the dictatorship, led to self-expression, regardless of political ideas. It was a deep and rich experience, an opportunity to remember, to talk and heal wounds.
A tribute built by thousands of people, with a simple act. An act which is an avalanche multiplied, as the 30,000 people still missing.

This intervention completed its cycle in the exhibition Street Taken, mounted at the Museum of Art and Memory of La Plata. Along with the group Ardeminga an installation exhibition of photographs, video installation was presented.
